Recently, I bought a pair of new jeans. Scratch that. What really happened was, I found three pairs of jeans, but couldn't decide, so I bought all three pairs and had my husband help me decide on the winning pair. (After all, he stares at my butt a whole lot more than anyone else and should be able to tell me which pair looks best.) Predictably, he did not choose the two pairs that were higher waisted or more flared (he hates bell bottoms). So it was time to hem them. Today Hubby took the kids to the office and after housework, I got to work.
Here's a picture of the jeans, full-length on one side, and the other side pinned to where I thought it should be:
And abracadabra, an odd-angled picture of the jeans, apres hemming. This is what I get for asking my five-year-old to take the picture, I'm just relieved he didn't drop the camera (he dropped my Kindle last night).
I hate having to hem my pants. It makes me feel short. And I'm not (technically) petite. Actually, I'm really not petite--whenever I borrowed my mother's jackets, which are petite, the sleeves were always too short. But I do wonder what it would be like to be 5'8" or 5'10" and not ever have to hem my pants.
So the above are Joe's Jeans, the "Rocker" style, which is supposedly a "fitted flare," which makes no sense to me because one of the pairs I returned was Joe's Jeans' (high waisted) "Idol," which was supposed to be a boot cut but a larger flare than these supposedly flared jeans. My understanding was that flared jeans were more flared than bootcut jeans, but maybe I'm laboring under an incorrect assumption. These are great everyday jeans. They're stretchy and comfy but don't look out-of-date (as my Levi's 501s do).

WIP--Revival (still chugging along!)
I have been getting ever so slightly closer to the end of this project. As you can see, I've finished the body, and almost the right sleeve. (Rather than three-quarter-length sleeves, I've chosen to go with full-length sleeves, sacrificing form for function.) This is probably the loosest sweater I've knit myself, but it's comfy and I can't wait until it's completed, if for no other reason than the fact that then I'll be able to move on. This project started last August, so hopefully it's finished before that point this year.
